Success Stories at Micha Haifa and the North

Atir Chefetz

Atir was born deaf. The world of silence was his home, but as his devoted parents, we took on the mission of our lives. We refused to accept this limitation! We fought with all our might to open the gates of sound and noise for him. At a very young age, just 7 months old, he had to face very complex surgeries—four of them. Atir did it like a pro. Along the way, we experienced ups and downs, with many emotions mixed with difficulty. We embarked on a challenging journey once we decided to perform cochlear implant surgery. Tears of joy and great hope flooded us the day the implants were activated. Today, at age 7, Atir hears well, speaks at a high level, and enjoys a rich social life. He is full of self-confidence and a sense of capability, and above all, he enjoys an immense world of sounds and noises. Thanks to the wonderful team at Micha who supported him throughout this journey, the determination and the support provided within Micha's educational framework allowed us to see him progress and succeed. Atir's story moves us as his parents every day and reminds us of how significant the partners along the way can be—and most importantly, never to give up!
